Koechli, Peters Selected All-Great Lakes Region

Chantal Koechli and Kelsey Peters of The College of Wooster were named all-Great Lakes Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, with Koechli collecting second-team honors and Peters third-team, announced the NSCAA recently.

For Koechli, it marks her second all-region accolade, having earned a third-team award last year. As a senior midfielder, Koechli was once again a force all over the pitch, registering 12 points on four goals and four assists, and defensively, she helped the Fighting Scots record nine shutouts and five additional one-goal outings during the 19-match season. Koechli's career concluded with 47 points, including the second-most assists in school history (23), as well as two first-team Academic All-American® honors and three all-North Coast Athletic Conference certificates.

Peters, a sophomore defender, is a first-timer on the all-region team after anchoring Wooster's back row. A two-time all-NCAC standout, including second-team honors this fall, Peters led a group that gave up just 17 total goals or 0.89 per game. Later in the year, she often moved up the field and proved to be a viable scoring threat as well, tallying four goals, three during the final five matches.

In 2009, the Scots finished with their 10th double-digit win total of the last 11 seasons, winding up with an 11-4-4 overall record.
