Scots Drop Match, Despite Taking 17 More Shots Than ‘Berg

The College of Wooster outshot Heidelberg University by a 22-5 count Wednesday night, but came up short on the scoreboard, as the 'Berg held off a late charge by the Fighting Scots for a 2-1 victory in a women's soccer non-conference match-up at Tiffin, Ohio.

Heidelberg (3-2) took a 2-0 lead deep into the second half before Wooster (3-3) finally made good on one of its chances, as Liz Mott converted on a sliding shot to the far post with 4:46 to play. It marked the senior forward's second goal this season and 24th of her career.

The Scots got off one more attempt during the final moments, but it went wide as the 'Berg's scores during the ninth and 48th minutes were enough for the win.

Next, Wooster will be home for a pair of weekend games against Bethany College (3-2) and Washington & Jefferson College (3-3) this Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
