Mott Scores Twice in Wooster's 2-0 Win Over Bethany

WOOSTER, Ohio – Liz Mott provided the offense, and The College of Wooster's defense did the rest, as the Fighting Scots held Bethany College to just three shots in a 2-0 win Saturday at Carl Dale Field.

The Scots (4-3) held a 14-3 shot advantage in the match, but as regulation was winding down it didn't show up on the scoreboard, as the game remained deadlocked 0-0 over 70 minutes into the action. Finally at 72:15, Liz Mott blasted a deep shot from outside the goal box that buried itself into the top right corner of the net, giving Wooster the go-ahead goal it was seeking.

Just minutes later it was Mott who gave Wooster some insurance, as Erika Kay came down the right side and crossed a ball over the middle, which Mott headed past the keeper. It was Mott's fourth goal this fall, and second via a header, with her first being an overtime game-winner against Case Western Reserve University in the team's season opener.

Goalkeeper Michele Ring managed two saves on limited opportunities, while recording her first shutout of the season.

Wooster will be back on the pitch Sunday when it hosts Washington & Jefferson College (3-3) at 2 p.m.
