Kehm Fuels Wooster's 3-0 Rout Over Hiram

Maggie Kehm

WOOSTER, Ohio - Maggie Kehm scored an impressive one-on-one goal and assisted on another during a 1:48 span in the first half, sparking The College of Wooster's decisive 3-0 win over Hiram College in its North Coast Athletic Conference opener Saturday afternoon at Carl Dale Field.

Wooster (7-5-0, 1-0-0 NCAC) set the tone for the match in the opening minutes, as it began peppering Hiram (4-6-2, 0-1-0 NCAC) with shots on goal. It was a Paige Piper blast that put the Scots on the scoreboard first, as Lida Bilokur served a ball up the middle of the field, and Piper beat her defender and then the keeper to the left corner of the goal at 8:57.

Later in the first half Maggie Kehm was the difference maker, as she entered the match energized and put together a pair of dynamic scoring plays. Her goal at 20:01 was from a difficult angle, as she dribbled around the goalkeeper which came out to challenege her, and then delivered a shot to the opposite corner which just found the back of the net. Just moments later, Kehm got loose on a fast break down the right sideline and located Erika Kay on a cross, who knocked in the goal which gave Wooster its 3-0 lead.

The Scots outshot the Terriers 18-5, and held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Michele Ring made one save while notching her second shutout, and her counterpart, Emily Bristol, recorded seven saves in the setback.

Next up on the schedule is another home match, this time with NCAC foe Denison University (6-3-2) next Saturday at 1 p.m.
