More Offensive Fireworks from Scots, as They Dump OWU 5-1

<a href= The College of Wooster women's soccer team kept rolling Saturday, with the Fighting Scots posting a three-goal explosion over a 2:38 stretch late to defeat visiting Ohio Wesleyan University 5-1 Saturday at Carl Dale Field, and with the win, they remain alone in first atop the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Wooster (10-5, 4-0 NCAC), coming off a six-goal outburst that matched a season-high offensive effort on Tuesday, peppered Ohio Wesleyan (3-8-3, 0-3-1 NCAC) with 17 shots, but most of them didn't find their mark until the final 10 minutes.

It was 1-0 at halftime on Paige Piper's unassisted tally during the 12th minute, as the conference's leading scorer found an opening in the lower left corner. The Scots extended the lead when Erika Kay converted a flick pass from Liz Mott into a goal in the upper right corner, coming in the 53rd minute, and that would be all of the scoring until a late flurry.

Mary Riney essentially sealed the outcome, giving Wooster a 3-0 cushion in the 83rd minute by booting in a ball that had been knocked away from Maggie Kehm after she had dribbled into the box. Less than a minute later, Kay added her second of the day as she went right through the middle, and shortly thereafter, Kay assisted on Piper's second goal of the afternoon and 10th of the season.

The Battling Bishops avoided the shutout by converting a penalty kick with just 1:02 left.

Next, the Scots travel to No. 20 ranked and unbeaten Allegheny College (12-0-2, 3-0-1 NCAC) Tuesday.
