Marietta College held The College of Wooster off of the scoreboard for 70 minutes, but the Fighting Scots' offense scored a trifecta of goals during a six-minute span late in the second half to upend the Pioneers 3-1 in a women's soccer match-up Wednesday afternoon at Marietta, Ohio.

The Scots (1-2) outshot the Pioneers (1-2) by an 8-2 margin in the first half, but a goal by Marietta's Stevie Reilly in the 41st minute put Wooster down 1-0 at the break.

Then in the second half, the Scots fired off 15 shots, but it wasn't until the 71st minute until they found the back of the net. Erin Davison knotted the score at 1-1 when she booted in a cross from Paige Piper in front of the goal. About three minutes later, Piper headed in a score on an assist from Bri Fulmer to put Wooster ahead 2-1, and then three minutes after that, Mary Riney blasted in a deep shot from outside the 18-yard box to make it 3-1.

Michele Ring made five saves while recording her first win of the season, while Marietta 'keeper Kaitlyn Pearse tallied nine saves in a losing effort.

Wooster will wrap up its season-opening four-game road trip with a tilt at Bethany College (W. Va.) Saturday at 1 p.m.
