The College of Wooster women's soccer team won a non-conference road match by the score of 3-1 for the second-straight game, this time using a pair of early goals to get past Bethany College on Saturday in Bethany, W. Va.
Wooster (2-2) set the tone early, scoring twice within the opening 15 minutes. Following a Bethany foul, Bri Fulmer delivered the ball to Erin Davison, who netted it for her second goal on the young season, coming 9:11 into the action. Less than five minutes later, it was Maggie Kehm breaking down the defense for an unassisted goal and a 2-0 cushion.
While the Bison did not have many offensive looks, they did make things interesting as Missy Baldwin converted a penalty kick during the 73rd minute to make it 2-1.
Wooster hung on for the victory, first with goalkeeper Michele Ring making a key save shortly after the goal and then freshman Katherine Tuttle putting it away by scoring on a diving header off a corner from Fulmer in the 85th minute. It marked the first collegiate goal for Tuttle.
The Scots outshot their hosts by a 14-5 margin and Ring made two saves in the win.
Wooster will close a busy stretch of three games over five days when it makes its home debut on Sunday afternoon against WilmingtonWilmington College (1-1-2).
