WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's soccer team outshot Kenyon College 18-5, but the Ladies made the most of their limited scoring opportunities, and got past the Fighting Scots 2-0 Tuesday afternoon in a North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams at a chilly and overcast Carl Dale Field.

In the first half, the Scots (5-5, 0-1 NCAC) came close to lighting the scoreboard on several occasions, as Erin Davison and Paige Piper both fired off several near misses. Kenyon (7-2, 1-0) surprised Wooster with a fast break, when Kendal Wong had her shot saved, and then the Ladies quickly sent the ball downfield in transition, where Becca Romaine shot and scored to give her team a 1-0 advantage.

Kelsey Peters, the NCAC's reigning Defensive Player-of-the-Year, was moved to forward in the second half to help generate a spark for the offense. She ended up tying for the team lead with four shot attempts, but instead, it was Kenyon's Lindsay Watts who added an insurance goal in the 76th minute to give the Ladies their 2-0 margin.

Wooster also led Kenyon in corner kick attempts (8-2), and had several free kicks turn into potential scoring opportunities, but the Scots were unable to find the back of the net. Goalkeeper Lauren Wolfe recorded nine saves in the win, while her counterpart, Michele Ring, made two saves.

Next, the Scots will host Allegheny College in a rematch of last year's NCAC Tournament semifinals on Oct. 5 at 4:30 p.m.
