The College of Wooster women's soccer team scored a pair of early goals, and then held off Hiram College down the stretch, en route to a 2-1 victory Wednesday evening in North Coast Athletic Conference action at Hiram, Ohio.

The Scots (7-6-2, 2-1-2 NCAC) dominated The Terriers (3-10-2, 0-5-1 NCAC) across the board in the first half, including staggering advantages in shot attempts (17-0) and corner kicks (11-0). Erin Davison gave Wooster a 1-0 lead just over four minutes into the action, when she got loose and blasted in her fourth goal of the season.

Then in the 18th minute, Paige Piper rifled a shot that deflected off of the post, and a scrum of Hiram defenders accidently knocked the ball into their own goal to give the Scots a 2-0 advantage.

The second half was much more closely-contested, with Hiram leading 6-4 in shot attempts, including one at 84:46 by Samantha Zuponcic that beat the 'keeper and pulled the home team within a single goal. But, Wooster clamped down defensively and didn't allow another shot attempt over the final five minutes of play, resulting in a 2-1 decision.

Piper, Kendal Wong, and Erika Kay each led the offense with four shot attempts, while Davison chipped in three along with the team's lone goal. Michele Ring made three saves in goal.

Next, Wooster visits Ohio Wesleyan University Saturday at 7 p.m.
