The College of Wooster and Ohio Wesleyan University exchanged goals during the first 22:13 of the North Coast Athletic Conference women's soccer teams' match-up Saturday night, but that was all of the scoring as they settled for a 1-1 tie in Delaware, Ohio

Wooster (7-6-3, 2-1-3 NCAC) struck first with a goal in the fourth minute when Paige Piper launched a long shot, estimated at 25 yards, from the right side over the goalkeeper into the top left of the net. It marked Piper's eighth goal of the season.

Sam Weeks of Ohio Wesleyan (9-4-3, 4-1-1 NCAC) would even the score on the host's first shot of the game, which didn't come until the 23rd minute, as she turned at the top of the box and delivered an unassisted goal.

Both teams would have plenty of chances to break the deadlock. Fighting Scot defender Esther Bryant cleared a ball away from the line, following a Battling Bishop corner kick in the 73rd minute. Later, Piper had a near miss, sliding a shot across the goal mouth and wide in the 88th minute, and in the 90th minute, an Ohio Wesleyan attempt glanced off the crossbar.

Wooster's Kendal Wong hit a crossbar of her own, as her shot in the second overtime nearly ended it.

The teams were certainly evenly matched, as each finished with 18 shots and four saves were credited to both. The Scots had the edge in corner kicks (9-6).

Next, Wooster hosts Oberlin College (5-10-2, 1-4-1 NCAC) on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
