The College of Wooster's and Allegheny College's women's soccer teams went 72 minutes without scoring a goal, but the Gators strung together three quick scores in just over eight minutes of play to drop the Fighting Scots 3-0 in the semifinals of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday afternoon at Meadville, Pa.

Coming out of the break locked in a scoreless tie, Wooster (9-7-3) earned the two best scoring opportunities of the early stages of the second half, as Paige Piper and Maggie Kehm both rifled off shots on goal that were saved by Allegheny's (11-4-3) Emily Karr.

With about 18 minutes remaining in regulation, Allegheny's Katrina Gazsi scored to put her team ahead 1-0. Then just two minutes later, Ashley Lehr delivered a ball to Dayna Rowe, and the latter booted in just her second goal of the season to give Allegheny a sudden 2-0 cushion.

The Scots earned a corner kick moments later, but couldn't find the back of the net, and Allegheny capitalized, as Lehr scored the team's third and final goal at the 81:26 mark to seal the outcome.

Both Erika Kay and Kehm recorded shot attempts in the closing minutes to no avail.

The match was closely-contested overall, with Allegheny holding a slight 11-7 lead in shot attempts, and Wooster taking one more corner kick (2-1). Michele Ring, and her counterpart Karr, each recorded four saves on the day.

It marked the second year in a row that Wooster was eliminated by Allegheny in the opening round of the NCAC Tournament.
