Erika Kay's goal about 32 minutes into the match was all The College of Wooster women's soccer team needed to get by Marywood University, as the Scots' defense limited their opponent to just six shot attempts en route to a 1-0 victory Saturday afternoon in a neutral site game at Carlisle, Pa.

The Scots (1-0) were consistent, firing off eight shot attempts in each half, but it was Kay that found the back of the net. First-year Imani Gunn was credited with the assist, as she fired off a shot that deflected off the right post, and Kay was there to boot the loose ball past the 'keeper.

Wooster held Marywood to only one shot attempt in the first half, but the Pacers (0-1) did manage five shots after the break, including one that hit the crossbar with less than four minutes remaining in regulation.

Goalkeeper Michele Ring made three saves while recording the 16th solo shutout of her career.

Wooster will take on Penn State Harrisburg tomorrow in another neutral site game at noon.
