WOOSTER, Ohio – Ohio Northern University netted two goals within the opening 10 minutes of the second half, which was enough for the No. 18 ranked Polar Bears to get past The College of Wooster 2-0 Sunday morning on Andrew Turf Field at John P. Papp Stadium.

Ohio Northern (2-0-2) glanced a shot off the outside of the right post during the game's early moments, but that was the closest either team came to scoring until after the halftime break.

Less than a minute into the second, the Polar Bears earned a throw-in and the ensuing pass was deflected into the center of the box where Sandra Thorarensen drove the ball to the left under diving 'keeper Michele Ring for the initial score.

Less than five minutes later, Wooster (3-1-1) nearly put in an equalizer. Erin Davison fired a shot from the left wing that Ohio Northern goalie Erin Waehner was able to get a finger on and then the ball ricocheted off the far post.

The scoring chances continued in the 54th minute when Kristina Klusek dribbled down the right flank and sent a well-placed cross in front of the net where Thorarsnsen finished the play for her second goal.

Midway through the second half, the Scots had another close attempt find the post, this time off the foot of Katherine Tuttle.

Overall, Wooster was outshot by just six (14-8) against its nationally-ranked opponent, and Ring tallied five saves.

The Scots will be back in action when they host No. 13 ranked Case Western Reserve University (2-1-1) Wednesday at 5 p.m.
