24th-Ranked Spartans’ Early Offense Too Much for Scots

WOOSTER, Ohio – A high-scoring first half gave way to a scoreless second, as The College of Wooster was unable to catch up to Case Western Reserve University in a 3-1 loss to the No. 24 ranked Spartans during the northeast Ohio foes' annual non-conference tussle Wednesday at Carl Dale Field.

Case Western Reserve (3-1-1) was sharp early on, scoring in the 11th and 17th minutes.

From that point on, Wooster (3-2-1) outshot the Spartans 8-5, highlighted by freshman Lily Mohre's first career goal. After receiving a pass from Jessica Friesen, Mohre drove a deep shot from the right wing to the upper left corner, cutting the deficit to 2-1 during the 39th minute.

The Scots' momentum didn't last long, though, as the Spartans added a pivotal goal in the 42nd minute.

Throughout much of the second half, Wooster held possession on Case Western Reserve's defensive side, but could not add another score.

The Scots will conclude their five-match homestand against Washington & Jefferson College (0-3) on Friday at 5 p.m.
