The College of Wooster women's soccer team was a bit unlucky Wednesday evening, as it played a closely-contested game with John Carroll University, but allowed a pair of challenging rebound goals, and ultimately dropped a 2-0 decision against its northeast Ohio foe at University Heights, Ohio.

The Scots (5-3-1) trailed only marginally (14-10) in shot attempts on the day, although just three of their shots came courtesy of starters, including one header by Crystal Chavez off a corner kick that was saved.

Meanwhile, the Blue Streaks (5-3-0) capitalized on two similar opportunities, with the first coming 28:14 into the match. Genny Goergen attempted a header on goal, and Danielle Sharbaugh collected the rebound and dished to Chelsea Hart for their initial score. Then, early in the second half, the Scots were forced into another tough defensive situation, as Kaylin Ackerly's missed shot attempt was followed up by Goergen, and the latter beat the 'keeper to give John Carroll its 2-0 advantage.

Michele Ring made four saves in the setback, while her counterpart, Haley McDonald, recorded seven saves, including ones off the feet of Chavez, Brenna Coolbaugh, Lauren Hancher, Shannon Latsko, Paige Piper, and Katherine Tuttle.

The Scots will look to put this one behind them when they host Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday at 4 p.m.
