WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster broke open a scoreless tie by scoring four goals during a 22:13 span in the second half to power past Hiram College 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon in a North Coast Athletic Conference match-up at Carl Dale Field.

The Scots (10-4-1, 5-0-0 NCAC) outshot the Terriers (4-9-2, 1-5-0 NCAC) by a 13-1 margin in the first half, but it wasn't until after the break that the offense made good on its opportunities.

Lauren Hancher got the scoring run started in the 54th minute when she corralled a header from Paige Piper and blasted in a goal from close range to give the Scots a lead. Then just 5:19 later, Hancher returned the favor by feeding a ball to Piper down the right side, and the latter dribbled around the diving 'keeper and deposited the ball into the top shelf to make it 2-0.

Piper factored into Wooster's third goal as well, as she assisted on Erin Davison's score at the 62:41-mark with a long cross from right-to-left just inside the goal box. Finally, with less than 15 minutes remaining in regulation, Imani Gunn came up with the ball in a scrum and put Wooster ahead 4-0 with the first goal of her collegiate career.

The Scots' defense allowed just three shots on the day, helping Michele Ring notch her seventh shutout of the season in goal.

Wooster will look to remain unbeaten in conference play when it hosts Wittenberg University (8-3-2, 4-0-0 NCAC) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
