WOOSTER, Ohio – Erika Kay passed out an assist and scored twice to give The College of Wooster a seemingly comfortable three-goal halftime lead, but the Scots ultimately needed to withstand a late rally to secure their 3-2 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon in a North Coast Athletic Conference women's soccer tilt at a cold and rainy Carl Dale Field.

With the win, the Scots (12-5-1, 7-1-0) secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NCAC Tournament and will host third-seeded Denison University (5-10-2, 4-3-1) in a semifinal game Thursday at 2 p.m.

The Scots jumped out to an early lead when Kay dribbled up the right sideline, made her way into the goal box, and delivered a cross to Crystal Chavez, who touched in her fifth goal of the season just 3:45 into the action. Then just moments later, Kay got loose up the middle of the field, and blasted a shot into the right corner of the net to make it 2-0 at the 7:19-mark.

Just before halftime, Kay scored her second goal of the game, and ninth of the year, on an assist from Erin Davison that put the Scots up by three at the break.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Wooster 8-5 in the second half, though, and netted goals in the 81st and 84th minutes to pull within one down the stretch. The Battling Bishops earned themselves one last scoring look with less than two minutes to go in regulation, but the shot sailed wide and Wooster hung on for the win.

Wooster's eight seniors – Davison, Jenna Hohan, Kay, Shannon Latsko, Taylor Morgan, Paige Piper, Michele Ring, and Kendal Wong – were recognized before playing in their final regular season home game.
