Back-to-back goals, 55 seconds apart from each other, provided more than enough cushion as The College of Wooster women's soccer team posted a 3-0 shutout over the University of Mount Union on Tuesday night in Alliance, Ohio.

A trio of first-years had memorable debuts for the College. Forward Sadie Norton setup the first goal of the season, finding Harper Jones in the 14th minute of the match. In the second half, Norton would locate Devin Frisby in the 71st minute to cap the quick back-to-back strikes.

In the middle, a duo of seniors came through as Carly Joliat found Lauren Hancher in the 70th minute. For their careers, it marked the third time the two have connected for a score.

Wooster provided offensive pressure all night, outshooting Mount Union 19-6.

The Purple Raiders' biggest offensive threat of the night came immediately after the Scots' first goal. Junior Carly Eppler was up for the test, though, turning away shots in the 14th and 17th minutes. She would tally a third save during the 66th minute.

The shutout marked the third time in the last four seasons Wooster opened the year with a clean sheet.

The Scots return to action on Friday, Sept. 4, as part of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament, hosted by Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. The Scots will take on Baldwin Wallace University (1-0) in a 7:30 p.m. match.
