Wilmington College Shuts Out Wooster 3-0

The College of Wooster's women's soccer team fell by a 3-0 count to Wilmington College on Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium.

In what was a goalless affair through the opening third, Wilmington (3-1-2) maintained the offensive edge, outshooting the Fighting Scots (2-5-1) 11-1 in the first 31 minutes of play.

A corner in the 32nd minute from the Quakers' Stephanie Randolph proved the difference in the match.

Randolph's send from the corner resulted in a loose ball in the box. Eventually, teammate Alyssa Reule gained controlled of the ball to set up Hanna Greaney for the game-winning goal.

Just over two minutes later, it was the same process but different goal scorer for the Quakers, as a corner from Randolph resulted in a loose ball in the box. This time, Reule found Erika Good on the scoring end as Good put it away to make it a 2-0 advantage in the 34th minute.

At the end of the half, Wilmington led Wooster 13-1 in total shots.

At the start of the final 45 minutes, Wooster senior Liz Kantra nearly halved the deficit after connecting on a header from Mackenzie Goltz, but the ball sailed high and out of play.

In the 72nd minute, Greaney fired a shot towards goal, but a Wooster defender managed to block it, deflecting it away. The redirect managed to find Wilmington's Taylor Leake, who put away the rebound for the game's third and final goal.

The Scots finished with four shots on the day.

Wooster senior goalkeeper Carly Eppler recorded nine saves on the day.

The Scots continue their three-game road swing as they travel to take on Ohio Northern University (5-0-0) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. before opening North Coast Athletic Conference play against Hiram College (1-3-1) at Carl Dale Field on Saturday at 1 p.m.
