The College of Wooster dropped a 4-2 decision to Denison University on Saturday afternoon at Granville, Ohio.

The Big Red (6-5-4, 2-2-2 North Coast Athletic Conference) tacked on two goals in the opening seven minutes before closing the half with another pair of back-to-back goals to take a 4-0 lead at the break.

Denison's Claire Kolff tallied the opener after a mistimed clearance in the 5th minute. Less than 90 seconds later, Kolff received a pass from Maggie Armstrong inside the 18-yard box before slotting it in from the right side.

Armstrong made it 3-0 in the 34th-minute with a back-post header off a corner kick before recording her second goal four minutes later with an unassisted goal from inside the box, placing it inside the far post on the left side.

Denison outshot Wooster (6-7-3, 3-3-1 NCAC) 12-3 in the first half.

The Fighting Scots turned it around offensively in the final forty-five minutes, but the four-goal deficit proved too much to overcome.

Junior Emma Lawrence got on the boards with a long-range goal from near midfield in the 54th minute, lofting it over the goalkeeper and in for the Scots' first goal of the game and her first of the season.

After over 30 minutes of scoreless play, first-year Meghan Badge scored her first collegiate goal with an unassisted strike from the front of the box to halve the deficit at 4-2.

Junior goalkeeper Maddy Ireton ended the game with nine saves while first-year Molly Hutter earned nearly 13 minutes of playing time, earning one save and allowing zero goals.

Wooster hosts Allegheny College (6-8-0, 3-2-0 NCAC) on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 4 p.m.
