Scots Take Control Early, Defeat John Carroll 3-1

Senior Sam Draves received the start on Thursday and played 21 minutes.

Three impressive goals gave The College of Wooster women's soccer team a 3-1 victory over John Carroll University on Thursday.

Making sure the game didn't end in a 0-0 tie like it did last year, sophomore Holly Thompson scored just 28 seconds into the contest. A scuffle in front of the net ended with the John Carroll goalie on the ground, and Thompson sinking in her third goal of the season.

However, the lead did not last long as John Carroll leading scorer Brittany Dufalla scored in the second minute of the game. Macey Malinky recorded the assist.

In the 15th minute, Miura Wiley accepted an outlet pass and ran down three-fourths the field, beating two defenders and scoring her first goal of the season and what would be the game winner.

Wooster took a 2-1 lead into halftime and controlled the majority of the second half, outshooting the Blue Streaks 10-1 for the half and 20-6 for the game.

Junior Brie Jarrell then gave the Scots an insurance goal following a corner in the 72nd minute. It was her first collegiate goal.

Molly Hutter made two saves to record her third win of the season.

Wooster improves to 3-0-1, while John Carroll drops to 2-2. The Scots host Kalamazoo College on Sunday.
