United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award Release

For the 11th straight year, The College of Wooster women's soccer team earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, which was announced by the organization on Thursday. The Fighting Scots were one of 556 qualifying institutions on the women's side, while the College was one of 174 schools where both the men's and women's programs qualified.

Overall, this is Wooster's 15th United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, which has been sponsored by the coaches' organization since 1996. The 2019 team checked in with a 3.59 composite GPA for the 2019-20 academic year.

Earlier this summer, the North Coast Athletic Conference announced its Academic Honor Roll for the 2019-20 academic year, and women's soccer tied for the second-most honorees among Wooster's varsity teams with 14. The Scots' honorees on the NCAC Academic Honor Roll were Meghan Badge, Alexa Bencic, Cammy Bly, Claire Davis, Sam Draves, Payton Gennett, Mackenzie Goltz, Kelsey Hall, Molly Hutter, Lillian Miller, Claudia Partridge, Holly Thompson, Miura Wiley, and Mila Zunich. Other major academic awards for the women's soccer team during the 2019-20 academic year included Wiley's selection to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Team, Goltz's College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® certificate, and Davis, Hutter, and Wiley's United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region honors.

Collegiate teams must post a composite GPA of at least 3.0 for the most recent academic year and their coach must be an active member of the United Soccer Coaches to qualify for the award.
