Battling Bishops deal Scots first NCAC loss

Janczak The Ohio Wesleyan University women's soccer team gave The College of Wooster its first North Coast Athletic Conference loss of the season in a 2-1 defeat Saturday.

Ohio Wesleyan broke a 1-1 tie with the game-winner in the 67th minute as Morgan Scott scored on her first goal of the year directly on a corner kick.

Prior, Ohio Wesleyan got on the board first in the 14th minute as Makayla Watkins scored off the assist from Avery Maxeiner.

Senior Helena Janczak answered in the 26th minute following a corner kick of Wooster's own. It was her second goal of the year.

Both teams totaled 12 shots.Wooster keeper Kyra Stief made four saves.

While this was Wooster's first NCAC loss of the year, it was Ohio Wesleyan's first. Wooster is 5-6-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play, and the Battling Bishops are 6-3-3 overall and 1-2 in the NCAC.

This was the first of three consecutive games at home for the Scots. Wooster hosts Hiram College on Tuesday.
