Wiley Named to Scholar All-Region Second Team

Miura Wiley Senior Miura Wiley claimed another honor on Thursday, being named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Second Team for the North/Central region.

Wiley, a repeat North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year this fall, finished atop the league in goals (12), assists (5) and points (29).

Academically, the biochemistry and molecular biology major studied a gene in fruit flies related to a human gene that leads to intellectual disability for her Independent Study. This summer, Wiley was a genetics research intern at Genomics and Bioinformatics Core and University at Buffalo, and she is completing a genetic counseling internship this fall.

Earlier in her college studies, Wiley worked at a clinical trials startup company and did a biology research internship. On campus, Wiley is a service house coordinator, a teacher's assistant for the biology of nutrition course, and a member of several campus chapter honor societies. In the community, Wiley volunteers with People to People Ministries and is a crisis text line volunteer.

Denison senior Abby King joined Wiley as the only other NCAC colleague to be honored.

For her career, Wiley appeared in 79 contests, tallied 66 points and scored 25 goals. Earlier this year she was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team and the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team.
