Senior Alyssa Lubba scored in the 30th minute on a cross from classmate Hallie Krzys, and that was enough for The College of Wooster women's soccer team to win its North Coast Athletic Conference opener over Kenyon College 1-0 on Saturday.
Krzys placed the ball right in front of the net and on the right foot of Lubba whose shot evaded the Kenyon keeper for the score.
Lubba now has three goals on the season, which have all been game winners.
Krzys tallies a point in her third straight contest. In nine games played this season, she has scored a point in all but two and leads the team with 16 points (5G, 6A).
Kenyon had several decent looks throughout the game, but Wooster fended them all off. The Scots outshot the Owls 22-4. Krzys was a heavy part of that, ending the game with nine shots.
Senior keeper Amanda Flory made two saves to complete the shutout and secure the win.
Wooster recently closed their non-conference schedule winning its last four by a margin of 12-2 with three shutouts. For the second consecutive year, Wooster downs Kenyon 1-0.
Wooster inches closer in the all-time series against the Owls at 17-19-7.
The Scots improve to 8-1-2 overall and 1-0 in the NCAC, while Kenyon drops to 1-7 and 0-1.
The women will travel to Wittenberg University on Wednesday for another NCAC matchup.
