The College of Wooster women's soccer team found its avenue into the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday, defeating DePauw University 1-0 at Carl Dale Field.
The win secures the No. 3 seed for the Scots in the upcoming tournament, but how they got there was with a satisfying performance against one of the top teams in the NCAC.
Wooster outshot DePauw 22-11, but they only needed one shot to get through, which did with two minutes left in the first half.
Wooster was awarded a free kick, which senior Lily Glaza took. Glaza sent the ball to the feet of sophomore Abby Henegar, who turned and laced a shot into the back of the goal.
It was Henegar's second goal of the year, and Glaza's first assist.
The goal was enough for junior keeper Kameryn Nelson, who made five saves in a shutout performance.
The Scots had not beaten the Tigers since their 1-0 double overtime win in 2019's NCAC Tournament Championship game.
DePauw (10-5-3, 4-1-2 NCAC) entered as the top team in the conference, having not recorded an NCAC loss this season. With the loss, they slide down to the No. 2 seed in the NCAC Tournament.
That means Wooster and DePauw are now slated for a rematch in the opening semifinal match. However, the teams will switch venues with the Scots traveling to Greencastle, Ind. for a 7 p.m. match time on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
The other matchup between top-seeded Denison University and fourth-seeded Wittenberg University will also be played at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Wooster moves to 11-3-3 overall and 4-2-1 in the NCAC.
