Senior Salute - Lily Glaza
Mathematics major is member of women's soccer team
Our "Senior Salute" series continues with Lily Glaza from the women's soccer team. Glaza is a mathematics major from Royal Oak, Michigan.
Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: I chose to attend The College of Wooster because of the rigorous academics and the opportunity to continue playing soccer at the next level. I loved how big the campus felt compared to other smaller schools.
Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: Being a Fighting Scot student-athlete means balancing academics and athletics. It is important to do well in the classroom so you can go out and do your best on the field.
Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: One of my favorite memories is preseason. Being on campus before everyone else and getting to know the team is such a fun experience!
Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: The best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster is the immediate family you make with your team. The team brings you in and makes everyone feel welcome when you come in not knowing anyone.
Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: Besides soccer, I was a statistics caller for men's and women's basketball and lacrosse home games, a teaching assistant, and a course assistant.
Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: Dr. Qimin Huang has made the biggest impact on me. I admire her work, and I love working under her guidance for my Independent Study. She also taught my favorite class!
Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: My coaches were a big part of my success at Wooster. From the beginning, they were there for any question I had, and they made sure I was doing well with school as well.
Q: Tell us a bit about your Independent Study project?
A: I am modeling the spread of malaria in India through the SIR SI Model. I am combining my love for statistics with my family background in India.
Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: I was given the opportunity to travel to Spain with my soccer team. We traveled around the Barcelona area, and we played against three Spanish women's soccer teams.
Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: Time flies, soak it all in!
