In a closely played match at Ohio Wesleyan University Thursday,
The College of Wooster displayed its depth with wins at No. 5 and
No. 6 singles as well as No. 3 doubles, but the Battling Bishops
wound up prevailing 6-3.
For Wooster (4-12), Ashley Stockwell and Boo Flynn teamed up for an
8-4 triumph in doubles, upping their record to 8-6 on the season,
all at the third position. Ohio Wesleyan (9-6) took the top-two
flights for a 2-1 lead going into the singles.
Flynn was a double winner, producing a quick 6-1, 6-1 decision over
her opponent at the sixth position, which marked her team-high 10th
singles victory of the year. The Scots' third team point came
courtesy of Erin Bauer, as she earned a hard-fought 6-2, 1-6, 7-6
(7-4) triumph at the fifth slot.
This Saturday, Wooster will take on Earlham College (4-5) and
Wittenberg University (10-4), both in Springfield, Ohio.
