Dragons Use Singles’ Play to Edge Past Wooster, 6-3

The College of Wooster women's tennis team battled during its non-conference match with Tiffin University Sunday afternoon, but the visiting Dragons took two three-set victories in singles play en route to a 6-3 victory over the Scots.

Tiffin (5-16) set the tone by prevailing in two of the three doubles matches with Wooster's point coming via an 8-2 decision by Ashley Stockwell and Boo Flynn at the No. 3 spot.

In singles action, Wooster (3-9) was victorious at the top of the lineup when Elissa Lauber posted a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set victory over Teauana Long. Tied at 2-2, Tiffin utilized victories at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5, including tough three-set wins at No. 4 and No. 5 to take the victory. Wooster's third point of the match came at No. 6 singles when Flynn cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph.

The Scots will head back into North Coast Athletic Conference East action Tuesday afternoon when they host Oberlin College (10-9, 0-0 NCAC East) at 4:30 p.m.
