The College of Wooster's Elissa Lauber and Erin Bauer
played well in their singles matches, but could not quite score a
team point in the Fighting Scots' 9-0 loss to North Coast
Athletic Conference power Kenyon College Monday inside the Kenyon
Athletic Center in Gambier, Ohio.
Kenyon (8-7, 1-0 NCAC East), ranked No. 9 in the most recent NCAA
Div. III Central Region poll, jumped out to a 3-0 lead during the
doubles action. Lauber and Kelsey Jenkins scored the most games for
Wooster (4-11, 0-3 NCAC) in an 8-3 setback to the 13th-rated
doubles tandem in the region.
Lauber also faced a regionally-ranked singles player at the top of
the lineup in the form of No. 9 Prita Kidder, and she pushed her to
a 6-3, 6-2 decision, while Bauer extended her opponent at the fifth
slot to a third set tiebreaker before falling 6-3, 2-6, 1-0
(10-0).
The Scots continue prepping for the fast-approaching NCAC
Tournament with a trip to central Ohio and Ohio Wesleyan University
(8-6, 1-1 NCAC West) on Thursday.
