Scots’ Depth Delivers in 5-4 Win Over Div. II Tiffin

The College of Wooster's depth keyed another victory, as two doubles wins and a sweep from the bottom-half of the singles lineup resulted in a 5-4 triumph over NCAA Div. II Tiffin University Monday in a women's tennis match-up that was moved indoors to Lakewood Racquet Club in Lexington, Ohio.

Wooster (4-7) took a 2-1 lead during the doubles competition via decisive victories from the teams of Ashley Stockwell-Boo Flynn at No. 2 (8-1) and Erin Bauer-Suzanne Hamby at No. 3 (8-2). Both of those pairings are now .500 on the season with Stockwell-Flynn having split 10 matches and Bauer-Hamby six.

At the top of the singles, the Fighting Scots dropped a pair of three-setters, but their Nos. 4-6 players combined to give up just two games en route to the team win. Bauer shutout her opponent at the fourth slot 6-0, 6-0, Lauren Grimanis did the same at No. 6, and Kelsey Jenkins prevailed 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5.

Next up for Wooster will be the challenging Great Lakes Colleges Association Tournament, hosted by OberlinOberlin College this Friday and Saturday.
