WOOSTER, Ohio – Behind double-winners Boo Flynn and Erin Bauer, The College of Wooster women's tennis team notched its first win of the season Saturday, a decisive 7-2 victory over Malone University at the Central Tennis & Fitness Club.
Flynn scored a convincing win at No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-3), and then teamed up with classmate Ashley Stockwell to cruise to an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles. In No. 4 singles actions, Erin Bauer prevailed 6-1, 6-1, and then stormed to another 8-3 win, this time at No. 3 doubles along with partner Suzanne Hamby.
Breanna Hart went the distance at No. 3 singles, winning in a super tiebreaker 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3), and Lauren Grimanis was also involved in a back and forth battle, topping her opponent 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot. Kelsey Jenkins rounded out Wooster's winners with her 6-1, 6-3 triumph at No. 5.
The Fighting Scots (1-1) will continue their season on Mar. 12 when they battle Trine University in the opening match of their annual spring break trip at Hilton Head, S.C.
