After several close doubles matches, WittenbergWittenberg University rolled to an 8-1 victory over home-standing College of Wooster in women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon.
Wittenberg (8-5) emerged with respective doubles wins of 8-3, 8-6, and 9-8 at Nos. 1-3 to take a commanding 3-0 lead into singles. Erin Bauer and Suzanne Hamby pushed their opponents to a tiebreaker before succumbing.
While the Tigers got the better of the Fighting Scots in singles as well, Elissa Lauber produced a decisive 6-0, 6-3 triumph at the No. 1 position. The next-best result for Wooster came from Lauren Grimanis at No. 6 (6-2, 7-5).
The Scots will be at Tiffin University (0-18) on Monday.
