The College of Wooster women's tennis team improved to 7-6 on the season with a dominant 9-0 sweep over Capital University on Friday afternoon at the Central Tennis & Fitness Club in Wooster, Ohio.

The Scots rattled off three-straight doubles wins to take an early 3-0 lead, only allowing one point to be taken from them in the process. Ashley Stockwell and Kelsey Jenkins won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, and then the teams of Lauren Grimanis/Suzanne Hamby and Lauren Gilliss/Cory Smith each recorded 8-0 victories at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

The most competitive singles match came at the No. 1 spot, where Stockwell faced some resistance before finishing off her opponent 6-3, 6-2. Boo Flynn didn't give up a point in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3, and No. 2 Jenkins, No. 5 Hamby, and No. 6 Gilliss all won by counts of 6-1, 6-0. At No. 4 singles, Grimanis won 6-0, 6-2.

The win also marked the last home match of the season for Wooster, and the last of Hamby's (senior) career. Playing at No. 3, 4, and 5 singles this year, Hamby has compiled a 7-6 record, which ties her for the team lead in wins. She has also totaled an impressive 7-3 record at No. 2 doubles with partner Griamanis.
