Nationally-Ranked Big Red Storm Past Scots

The College of Wooster women's tennis team ran into its toughest challenge to date, as nationally-ranked Denison University made quick work of the Fighting Scots 9-0 in a North Coast Athletic Conference match at Granville, Ohio.

Denison (14-4, 6-0 NCAC), who came into the match ranked sixth in the nation and second in the region in the latest polls, took a commanding 3-0 lead in doubles, with only Wooster's (7-10, 0-5 NCAC) No. 3 team of Cory Smith and Lauren Gilliss able to take a point (8-1).

The Scots most competitive matches came at No. 4 and 5 singles, where Lauren Grimanis and Suzanne Hamby both battled to 6-4, 6-1 setbacks. Boo Flynn was also able to get on the scoreboard in her 6-0, 6-3 effort at the No. 3 spot.

Next up, Wooster will wrap up regular-season play with a match against Allegheny College, which will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at a neutral site (Oberlin, Ohio).
