The College of Wooster women's tennis team swept the singles competition from Heidelberg University, propelling the Fighting Scots to a 7-2 victory Tuesday in non-conference action at Tiffin, Ohio.
After falling behind 2-1 during doubles play, Wooster (3-12) bounced back with a series of decisive wins in singles. Kelsey Jenkins won at the top of the lineup with matching 6-2, 6-2 sets, followed by a 6-2, 7-5 triumph for Ashley Stockwell at No. 2. Boo Flynn was a 6-1, 6-4 victor at third singles, while Lauren Grimanis posted a similar winning line at No. 4 (6-2, 6-4).
Due to rain delaying the match earlier in the afternoon, No. 5 and No. 6 were reduced to 10-game pro-sets, and the Fighting Scots' Emily Linville and Rachel Dietz completed the singles sweep with respective 10-5 and 10-4 decisions.
Wooster will be off from competition until April 11 when it travels to Oberlin College (9-5) for the teams' North Coast Athletic Conference East Division opener.
