The College of Wooster women's tennis team strung together its most decisive victory of the season Saturday afternoon, prevailing 7-2 over North Coast Athletic Conference foe Ohio Wesleyan University in a non-divisional match held at Gordon Field House in Delaware, Ohio.

It marked a reversal for the two programs, as Ohio Wesleyan had defeated Wooster twice last year, 8-1 during the regular season and 5-0 in the NCAC Tournament.

This year's new-look Scot team (2-3) opened up a 3-0 lead, sweeping the doubles. The No. 1 team of Catherine Christian and Melanie Chin picked up a hard-fought 8-6 triumph, while the second and third positions went decisively to the Scots with Rose Chiumento-Lauren Gilliss winning 8-3 and Rachel Appleton-Rachel Dietz 8-1.

Christian then continued her solid debut season at No. 1 singles, improving to 3-2 there with a 6-3, 6-3 victory. Wooster swept the bottom half of the lineup, with Chin taking a three-setter, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4, and Kimberly Carter and Gilliss with quick 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1 decisions at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Next, the Scots will be at Denison University (1-2) for another NCAC non-divisional match-up on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
