The College of Wooster took a 2-1 lead through doubles action and then split its singles matches 3-3, which included wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spot in the lineup, to edge past John Carroll University 5-4 on Friday evening at the Paramount Tennis Club in Medina, Ohio.

Catherine Christian and Rachel Molé were a big part of the Fighting Scots' (1-2) success, as they teamed up to win their No. 1 doubles match by an 8-2 margin and then were winners individually in the top singles matches, with both Christian and Mole winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

Other triumphs came at No. 2 doubles, where classmates Laura Kummer and Kimberly Carter were on the right end of an 8-4 decision, while Catherine Boyles 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 was victorious at the sixth-spot in the singles lineup.

Wooster's win could have been a bit more decisive, but Kummer lost a close one at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 7-5.

Next, the Scots will host Otterbein Univerity (4-2) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
