The College of Wooster women's tennis team opened its spring slate with a convincing 9-0 win over Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon at Lakewood Tennis Center in Lexington, Ohio.

Wooster (2-0), which won its spring opening for the first time since the 2015-16 season, raced out of the gate by only dropping two games in doubles play. Junior Shannon Sertz and sophomore Sarah Duran quickly matched that score out of the top flight. First-year Emma Saxton and sophomore Laura Haley closed out doubles with an 8-2 win at No. 3.

In singles play, Wooster logged four wins in which the Scots dropped two or fewer games. Those matches were headlined by Duran, who won over Sarah Higgins 6-0, 6-0. Sertz and Haley dropped one game each during respective 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0 wins out of the third and fourth flights, while Li posted identical 6-1 scores at No. 1.

Minassie (6-3, 6-1) and sophomore Kendra Devereux (6-1, 6-3) rounded out the Scots' competitors.

Wooster is back in action against Baldwin Wallace University (0-3) at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23.
