Wooster's Success at No. 2 Singles Continues Versus No. 38 DePauw

WOOSTER, Ohio – On Sunday, The College of Wooster women's tennis team squared off against its first nationally-ranked opponent of the season, as No. 38 DePauw University was in town. The Tigers walked away with a 7-2 decision at Aspen Racquet Club.

Wooster's (3-2) success at No. 2 singles continued on Sunday, with the Fighting Scots improving to 5-0 in that flight this season. First-year Ishika Gupta was the one tasked with keeping that stat intact on Sunday. She opened her match against Meredith Breda with a 6-2 win before Breda bounced back to take the second set 7-5. Gupta won the super-tiebreaker 10-1.

Wooster's other win came in the fourth flight. There, senior Shannon Sertz won 6-4, 6-2 against Emma Love.

For the second day in a row, junior Sarah Duran split sets to start her singles match. Playing in the third flight, Duran eventually fell to DePauw's (2-2) Erin Friedrich 6-1, 1-6, 6-0.

Further down the lineup, junior Laura Haley fell in a tiebreaker in set one of her 7-6 (5), 6-1 setback in the sixth flight.

Next, Wooster's at Kalamazoo College (0-2) for a 2 p.m. match on Saturday, February 22.
