ITA Academic Release - Div. III Women

Eleven College of Wooster women's tennis players earned Scholar-Athlete honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday, while the Fighting Scots also collected the organization's All-Academic Team certificate. Wooster's number of honorees is tied for the ninth-most among Div. III women's programs.

Seniors Qingyue Li and Shannon Sertz headlined Wooster's honorees, as both are now four-time recipients of the ITA's Scholar-Athlete certificate. Junior Kendra Devereux qualified for the third consecutive year, while classmates Sarah Duran and Laura Haley and sophomore Rebecca LaRue are now two-time recipients of the ITA's academic honor. First-years Amber Dinchman, Ishika Gupta, Kathryn Materick, and sophomores Meklit Minassie and Emma Saxton rounded out Wooster's honorees. Earlier this summer, Devereux, Duran, Haley, LaRue, Li, Saxton, and Sertz all qualified for the North Coast Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll. Wooster had the most honorees on both lists among NCAC institutions.

Student-athletes must have a GPA of at least 3.5 for the current academic year to qualify for the ITA Scholar-Athlete honor, while teams must have a GPA of at least 3.2 for the most recent academic year. Within Div. III women's programs, 1,058 student-athletes and 175 teams qualified this year.
