The College of Wooster women's tennis team played their first matches of the spring on the D.J. Hard Tennis Courts on Saturday but lost 7-2 to Allegheny College.
The women started off slow after falling in all three doubles matches. The No. 3 doubles team of Emma Saxton and Abby Kushner Benson came closest to victory but fell after a tiebreaker 8-7 (11).
The No. 1 doubles team of Otilia Oita and Kimberly Nguyen lost a close 8-5 match, while the No. 2 team of Sarah Duran and Laura Haley fell 8-2.
Haley and Saxton both bounced back to give Wooster its two wins in singles play Haley won in the No. 4 position 6-3, 6-2, and Saxton won at the No. 6 flight 7-5, 6-3.
Oita fell at No. 1 after falling in a first set tiebreaker 7-6 (8), 6-4. At No. 2 singles, Duran opened with a first set win but could not hold on 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Nguyen fell at the No. 3 flight 6-4, 6-0. Kendra Devereux also fell after a first set tiebreaker loss in the No. 5 flight 7-6 (7), 6-0.
The Scots will travel to Allegheny on Sunday, seeking revenge and their first win of the year.
