Kushner Benson Wins at No. 6 as Scots Fall 8-1 to Kenyon

Abby Kushner Benson took a 6-4, 7-6 (8) win at No. 6 on Saturday.

Abby Kushner Benson gave The College of Wooster women's tennis team its lone point on Saturday in an 8-1 defeat at Kenyon College.

Kushner Benson took the win at the No. 6 flight, defeating Elena Prenovitz 6-4, 7-6 (8).

At No. 1 singles, Otilia Oita battled in a tough first set but ended up falling 7-6 (7), 6-0. Sarah Duran took a 6-3, 6-1 loss in the No. 2 flight.

At No. 3 singles, Laura Haley fell 6-0, 6-0. At No. 4 singles Kimberly Nguyen fell 6-1, 6-3, and at No. 5 singles, Abby Aitken took a 6-2, 6-1 loss.

The No. 1 doubles team of Haley and Nguyen and the No. 2 doubles team of Oita and Aitken each fell 8-1. Duran and Kushner Benson lost 8-2 in the No. 3 flight.

Kenyon, ranked 12th in last year's rankings, improves to 3-0 on the year.

Wooster falls to 0-7 and will host Kenyon on Sunday. The women also will have an exhibition match against Oberlin College.
