Scots Capture Win in Final Dual Meet of Fall

The College of Wooster women's tennis team secured an 8-1 win over Baldwin Wallace on Saturday in their lone home match of the fall.

Wooster captured wins in all six singles flights, while capturing wins in the second and third flights in doubles.

The No. 1 doubles team of Cherry Patlolla and Ishika Gupta fell on the wrong end of a tight 8-6 match.

The No. 2 team of Otilia Oita and Janaki Jagannathan picked up an 8-1 win, and the No. 3 team of Katie Materick and Abby Aitken won 8-4.

At No. 1 singles, Oita fended off a second set push to win in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (5). In the No. 2 flight, Patlolla won 6-4, 6-2.

Gupta won after an abbreviated third set tiebreaker in the No. 3 flight, 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7).

The women came out on top rather easily in the final three flights. At No. 4, Jagannathan won 6-0, 6-0. Kim Nguyen won 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 5 flight, and Materick won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 6 flight.

The women will be in action next weekend in Kalamazoo, Mich. as they take part in the ITA Regional Championships.
