The College of Wooster women's tennis team has won its first three games on its spring break trip in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
They are riding a four-match winning streak and sit at 7-5 on the year.
Wooster opened with a 7-2 win over Concordia University of Wisconsin.
Otilia Oita and Janaki Jagannathan won at the No. 2 flight 8-3, and Kim Nguyen and Katie Materick won the No. 3 flight 8-1 for Wooster to go ahead 2-1 after doubles play.
Wooster then won the top five flights in singles play. Four of the flights went to a third set super tiebreaker in which Wooster won three.
Cherry Patlolla and Materick won in straight sets. Patlolla won 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 2 flight, and Materick took a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5.
Oita took a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (8) win in the No. 1 flight. Jagannathan won 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (2) at No. 3, and Nguyen took an 6-0, 4-6, 1-0 (5) win at No. 4.
Abby Aitken took a tough 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (7) loss at the No. 6 spot.
Wooster then swept LeTourneau University 9-0.
Oita and Jagannathan won 8-3 in the No. 1 flight, and Nguyen and Aitken won 8-2 in the No. 3 flight. Materick and Patlolla may have had the toughest match on the card, taking an 8-7 (1) win in the No. 2 flight.
Oita won her No. 1 flight match 6-4, 6-4. Patlolla held off her opponent at No. 2 singles 6-4, 7-5.
Jagannathan and Materick each took 6-0, 6-1 wins in the No. 3 and No. 5 flights, respectively. Nguyen won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4, and Abby Kushner Benson took the No. 6 flight 6-4, 6-2.
Wooster then gave Stockton (7-1) its first loss of the season with an 8-1 win.
The Scots again jumped out to an early lead thanks to its doubles matches. Oita and Jagannathan won 8-5, and Nguyen and Materick won 8-1.
Oita and Jagannathan each won in straight sets in singles play. Oita won the No. 1 flight 6-1, 6-3, and Jagannathan won 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot.
Patlolla won 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 2 flight, Materick won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5, and Aitken took a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win at No. 6. Nguyen won a third set super tiebreaker 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (7).
Wooster will wrap up its trip with two additional games. They face Hollins University on Sunday and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Monday.
