Scots Wrap Regular Season With Win

The College of Wooster women's tennis team defeated Oberlin College 6-3 in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Thursday to wrap up its regular season.

Janaki Jagannathan and Abby Williams led the way with wins in doubles and singles play. Jagannathan teamed with Otilia Oita for an 8-4 No. 1 win, while Williams and Sarah Mashaal won 8-0 in the No. 3 flight.

Jagannathan then won her No. 2 flight 6-2, 6-2. Williams took the No. 3 flight 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Wooster's other two points came quickly in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles flights. Margaret Steward won 7-5, 6-1, and Naledi Jani captured a 6-2, 6-1 win.

Elsewhere, Abby Aitken and Steward fell 8-1 in the No. 2 doubles flight. Aitken was the last off the court in the No. 3 singles flight, falling 6-7 (6), 6-1, 1-0 (8).

Oita lost a three-setter in the No. 1 flight, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2.

Jagannathan's win at No. 2 singles was her 23rd, moving her into a tie for second.

Wooster moves to 5-13 this season and 2-4 in the NCAC. They will next await their seeding for the upcoming NCAC Championships hosted at The College.
