Senior Salute - Sarah Mashaal
Biology major is a member of women's tennis team
Our "Senior Salute" series continues with Sarah Mashaal, a biology major from Edina, Minnesota. Mashaal is a member of the women's tennis team and is part of the three-four dental program partnership with Case Western Reserve University.
Q: Why did you choose to attend The College of Wooster?
A: It offered a lot of different opportunities that aligned with my interests and what I wanted out of my undergraduate experience.
Q: What does being a Fighting Scot student-athlete mean to you?
A: We are passionate and participate in the sport because we truly enjoy it. We also understand the importance of camaraderie, determination, effort, support, and respect between ourselves and others.
Q: What are some of your favorite memories as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: A lot of my favorite memories as a student at Wooster tie back to being in outdoor labs. Wooster is beautiful, and being able to visit different natural communities has been such a joy.
Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at The College of Wooster?
A: Being able to continue to be involved in sports and be part of a community of such wonderful supportive people.
Q: What else were you involved with on campus besides your sport?
A: I work as a peer health educator and I am the secretary for the pre-dental club on campus.
Q: Which College of Wooster faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?
A: There have been a lot of awesome staff and faculty members who I have interacted with during my time here, so I do not think I can single out any one individual specifically.
Q: What other people or resources impacted your Wooster experience in a positive way and how did these people and resources set you up to be successful at Wooster?
A: My coach, Amy Behrman, and team have been extremely supportive of me throughout my experience at Wooster. Whether it is accommodating a schedule change, showing up for one another, or being understanding of medical setbacks, I feel very fortunate to have them in my orbit.
Q: Tell us a bit about something cool you did as a student at The College of Wooster?
A: I have really loved working as a peer health educator and being able to be part of public health promotion on campus. It has really allowed me to develop my presentation and interpersonal skills in the context of holistic wellness.
Q: Reflecting back on your time at Wooster, what advice would you give your first-year self?
A: You have time.
