Errington Clinches Win for Women's Tennis
Scots down Baldwin Wallace 4-3
The College of Wooster women's tennis team captured its second consecutive win of the young season, defeating Baldwin Wallace University, 4-3, at Aspen Racquet Club on Sunday.
Wooster started with a quick three points but struggled to find its fourth point until a third set victory from Elyse Errington.
In doubles play, the Scots won the point after taking the first and third flight.
The No. 1 team of Janaki Jagannathan and EErrington won 6-2, while the No. 3 team of Kamila Kadirova and Jade Adkins left with a 6-4 victory. The No. 2 team of Sarah Mashaal and Naledi Jani fell 6-4.
In singles, Jagannathan cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Colleen Andersen in the No. 1 flight. Adkins followed behind with a just as impressive 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 3 spot.
Baldwin Wallace then got its first point in the No. 4 flight when Olivia Koutouras defeated Jani 6-3, 6-2.
Just like how Adkins gave Wooster the clinching win against the University of Mount Union, Errington did so Sunday, battling back from a first set loss to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 flight. It was the first-year's first singles win this spring.
Baldwin Wallace claimed the final two points in the No. 5 and No. 6 flights. Kadirova fell 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5, and Willow Hernishin lost 6-1, 7-5 at No. 6.
Wooster improves to 2-0, while the Yellow Jackets drop to 0-7. Wooster will return to Aspen Racquet Club on Saturday to host Kalamazoo College.
