Women’s Tennis Falls to John Carroll
Scots square off with future NCAC foe
CHAGRIN FALLS - The College of Wooster women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 match to John Carroll University, hosted inside The Wembley Club on Saturday.
John Carroll (1-1) won the doubles point by winning all three doubles matches. A pair of first-years in Jade Adkins and Elyse Errington had the best match for Wooster (2-2) in the No. 2 flight, losing by a 6-1 score.
Both the No. 1 doubles pairing of senior Janaki Jagannathan and first-year Stephanie Murarus and the No. 3 pairing of sophomore Naledi Jani and first-year Kamila Kadirova lost by 6-0 scores.
The Scots came out with a renewed determination to open singles play and played much more competitively in the first set of all six singles matches. Top performances came from Jagannathan in the first flight, who lost 6-2, 6-1, and Jani in the sixth flight who lost by a reversed score of 6-1, 6-2.
Murarus, Errington and Kadirova all lost by the exact 6-2, 6-0 score in the second, fourth and fifth singles matches while Adkins fell by a 6-1, 6-0 score in the No. 3 flight.
Wooster will host its Faculty/Staff Appreciation Match on Sunday against Capital University. First serve will be at 11 a.m. at the Aspen Racquet Club.
