Parker, Johnson Lead Wooster Over Muskingum in Five Sets

Behind Paige Parker's career-best 14 kills, and clutch serving from Kelley Johnson, The College of Wooster volleyball team got past Muskingum College 3-2 (25-18, 19-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-10) Wednesday night at New Concord, Ohio.

Following a 25-19 win in the fourth set that tied the match 2-2, Wooster (4-6) got behind early in the deciding fifth frame. Trailing 0-4, the Scots fought to get back into the match, and eventually knotted the set at 9-9 and 10-10. It was then Kelley Johnson that propelled Wooster to victory, as she served the final five points of the match to edge Muskingum (3-3) 15-10.

Parker led Wooster with 14 kills and 14 digs, while Melissa Morgan (12 kills) and Erin Webster (11 kills) rounded out the attack. Lizzi Beal and Kelley Johnson finished with match-highs in assists (38) and digs (35), respectively.

Wooster will be back in action this weekend as it hosts the Kilt Classic at Timken Gymnasium on Sept. 17-18. The annual tournament will kickoff Friday at 5 p.m. when the Scots battle La Roche College (2-5).
